5. Wild animals have no use in the 21st century and trying to preserve animals now is just wastage of money. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Now let’s find out the common themes in these IELTS essay topics and some points to elaborate those arguments.

Animals should not be exploited:

- Animals are conscious beings like humans, and many of them feel emotions like happiness and sorrow like humans do. Therefore, subjecting them to torture is not different from subjecting a fellow human being to the same.

- Scientific advancement allows humans to meet their needs like food and medicine without animal products and experiments. Hence, continuing this practice is unethical.

Humans have the right to use animals for their welfare:

- Being the occupants of Earth, humans have the right to utilize the available resources for their welfare.

- Humans are evolutionarily designed to use animal products and a deviation from this will affect their survival.

Zoo has no useful purpose:

- Zoos cannot successfully replicate natural environment for animals

- Excessive human interaction in zoos affects the wellbeing of animals

- Enclosed living reduces their prey drive

- Zoos deny animals’ right to hunt, mate, and roam freely in the natural habitat

Positives of having pet companionship:

- Pets can reduce anxiety, stress, and depression, especially in people who live alone

- Pets encourage exercise and playfulness in people

- Pets act as a source of unconditional love

Negatives of having pet companionship:

- Allergies and other health problems

- Possibility of injury; intentional or unintentional

- Cost

Why animals have no role in the 21st century:

- Machines are capable of performing every activity animals do for humans

- Technology is capable of creating alternatives to animal products
